PJWindows
Art based on windows in the most advanced business jets on the planet
Bombardier windows
15 x 22in, (38 x 56cm) actual size
with Boeing and Airbus
PJWindows use an unrevealed technique which took many years of experimentation and evolution. We call it photoimpressionism because it combines the precision of photorealism with the poetry of impressionism.
The paint is delicately sprayed in many layers for a kind of pointillist effect. From a distance, they seem like photographs. Oscillating between dream and reality.
Gulfstream windows
28 x 20in, (71 x 51cm) actual size
with Boeing and Airbus
Business jets evoke many topics: speed, freedom, travel, achievement, power, climate change, fame, wealth inequality, luxury, celebration, and romance. Using advanced materials and specialized manufacturing techniques, PJs embody refined engineering, precision and safety.
Some Art Historical Context on Windows
In Western painting, the window has traditionally been symbolic, often denoting spiritual or moral insight. Classical and Renaissance painting used windows as the bringer and bearer of clarity.Windows offer the chance for outward observation as well as introspection – they invite us to look at the world around us, while separating us from it – all seeing, but apart. Windows have proven an ideal tool for artists to consider questions of self and environment.Windows have proven an ideal tool for artists to consider questions of self and environment.Windows give us access to two of life’s main resources – air and light – yet when we look through windows, we rarely see them – they form a practical part of our everyday lives and tend to stop there. In addition to their functional purpose, windows have been unspoken muses for centuries of artists due to their symbolic, expressive and architectural qualities.Until the nineteenth century, glass windows were subject to heavy taxation and were considered a luxury indicating wealth and taste.Glass’s colourless properties are akin to that of the mirror, as they take on the aesthetic qualities of their surroundings, and bring us closer to the world around us.
